Austin Heights Golf Course Overview

 

As one of the best golf courses in Johor, Malaysia, Austin Heights Golf Resort do provide every visitors and challengers with excellent golfing experiences. Upon reaching the golf course, you can see an enormous white imposing building, which is also their clubhouse sitting on the top of Austin Hill. This large white building helped many golfers and visitors to recognize Austin Heights Golf Resort as the golf course is not really noticeable from far away.

 

 

Designed by Peter Dalkeith Scott, Austin Heights Golf Resort’s golf course has been purposely crafted to look and feel as if it was around for centuries. Besides, all the tee boxes are elevated, and there are many holes which require a drive across intimidating ravines to arrive on the fairways proper. And in order to increase a little hardened into the game, there are many undulating fairways and each hole is sculptured from the natural land of the original hilly terrain.

 

The terrain that Hills course is built on is hilly. Very hilly. The course was designed by Nigel B Douglas who also designed Willow Golf Club Australia, Kota Permai, Seri Selangor, Lake Kenyir and Valencia at Sarawak. The greens at Hills course  would be extremely hard for golf beginners as the course is built among the hills. It is Austin Heights Golf Resorts’ trademark of a 3 tier green too.

Another signature hole of their would be the 14th hole. It has a tree in front of the layer contouring green in the middle of the fairway. This dog leg hole require a well struck tee shot in the fairway which required challenger to avoid landing their golf ball right behind the tree or hit it onto the small undulating ravine protected green. At 305 meters, you only have a short iron to the green, so it’s a fair shot and genuine fun.

 

Course Layout And Overview

Austin Heights Golf Resorts’ golf course was originally set up as two 18-holes golf courses. However, Austin and Hills Courses have been reconfigured to provide 27 holes (3 nines) of both challenging golf for the professional golfer and more accessible tracks for amateur Malaysia golf visitors after a heavy flood occurred in December 2006. This golf course covers an area of 200 hectares, each with nine named Austin Course, Resort Course and Hills Course. Golfers can play different combinations of the three to make up their 18 holes.

 

Austin Heights Golf Resorts Signature Holes

 

• Hole 10

It is their most difficult handicap hole on the golf course. Hole 10 is a 500 meters par five that plays layup where there is a pond guarding the fairway located 200 meters from the tee, uphill and then with wild slopes at the green fringe. The green slopes from back to front and is very challenging too. Hence, professional skills are needed to avoid the golf ball from landing too early or landing onto the pond surface.

 

• Hole 2

It is a short par 3 but it is all laid out in front of you as you can drive from an elevated tee. The dips front left and right of the green often catch a drive hit short, so make sure you take enough club to reach the putting surface. Having done that, beware of the out of bounds back left of the green. Playing to the right hand side of the green is the wisest choice.

 

• Hole 8

A drive down the middle is needed here by keeping the tee shot between the fairway bunkers and pond at this semi island fairways. Be careful of the hazard pond all the way up the right and left. There would be a straightforward hole that requires straight hitting. However, please remember that there is a slight rise up to the front edge of the green so, challengers are advised to take enough club to continue on.

 

• Hole 18

This 385 meters par four Hole 18 would sweeps down the hill from a tree box located on the top and challengers are needed to have accurate second shot to transfer the golf ball to the other side of the lake to a very well protected green.

 

Club Facilities

The clubhouse and facilities are very good, with plenty of activities on offer for the whole family to enjoy. Their facilities do involve Bowling Alley, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi Sauna and Steam bath. These facilities provided are free and non-golfer also are invited to share the happiness with these club facilities too with a small amount of charges.

 

 

They also offers indoor activities such as Football Table, American Pool Table, Board Game Room, Mahjong Room, Karaoke Room, Internet Zone Area, Kids Room, Cinema Room, Gym and Table Tennis Room. These offers an opportunity for every family members or friends to strengthen their bonds and entertain themselves during their free time in the clubhouse.

Provided with two comfortable huge king size beds and air-conditioner, the Premium Family Suite is defiantly is a heaven to stay overnight after a tiring day of golf game. With a room size of 872 ft², this suite is suitable for family with two to four people to have a stay.
