2. Bonbon Bakery Cafe
Bonbon Bakery Cafe located at Taman Molek, Johor Bahru is the latest cafe addition since several months ago. This cafe has a simple interior design with a minimalist instagram interior shoot for instagrammer seekers. There is also a wooden table that serves up to 6 or more pax the moment placed near the entrance, which is quite noticeable upon entering the cafe.

The design of this Japanese themed cafe was really nice with a lot of adorable cartoon figures on the walls. You particularly would like the selection of pastel coloured decorations at the cafe and the wooden floors upon your visit there. Not to mention the wooden tables coupled with off white chairs which are great for some Instagrammable time too.

Overall, the environment of the cafe was good and you might comfortable spending time in that place enjoying your tea time.
Miyakori Coffee brought you the Ujikintoki (Uji Matcha) and it is a traditional green tea shaved ice dessert. This dessert was big enough to attract customer’s attraction. It is served in a cup which filled with shaved coarse ice and topped with matcha ice-cream, red bean paste, shiratama dango (mochi) and sweetened condensed milk.
It does not taste as milky as matcha ice-cream but you might be surprised by the shiratama and red bean that is quite decent. You are welcomed to give it a try on this tempting dessert to cool you down on a hot day!

My Liberica Specialty Coffee’s decoration is classy and features lots of wood for that warm and welcoming feeling. The space is well designed with many cosy nooks for every diners to chill out and enjoy coffee and cakes. Amazingly, all the coffee sold at My Liberica came from their own plantation, handpicked near Bukit Batu in Johor.
My Liberica has the best green tea parfait in town. Their Matcha Parfait is a masterpiece made with Haagen Dazs green tea ice-cream, good quality of matcha pudding and corn flakes as toppings to add more sweetness into it. The ice-cream has slightly creamery taste and mild matcha flavour taste but it gets along well with the combination. The chewiness from the pudding, crunch from the golden flakes and creaminess from the yogurt offers a mouthful that bursts with texture and flavour.

With more than 36 outlets across Malaysia, Sangkayahas opened their latest outlet at Johor Bahru, with just walking distance from the Johor Bahru checkpoint. This two storeys cafe offer a homey atmosphere to the guests, with comfortable grass carpet for lazing around.
Sangkaya is well-known for its signature coconut ice-cream, but it offers different kind of flavours ice-cream too. As usual, their ice-cream came in a coconut husk with 4 scoops of matcha ice-cream and you can select toppings that you want, served in a coconut shell.
Their matcha ice-cream here tasted mild flavour but it was good enough to pair with the coconut ice-cream and chai yen ice-cream. Overall, it is not that sweet but it still appetizing and likable to eat.

9. Sweet Blossom Coffee Roasters
Sweet Blossom Coffee Roasters is located in a quiet corner of Taman Pelangi with mature trees, well-kept shrubbery and flowering plants. Cozy environment with great coffee and cake served! Upon arriving, the first objects you notice when entering the cafe are the sensuous silhouettes of amber-hued lamps by Plumen, a Johorean lighting artisan.
Also, they have dedicated baristas promised to continuosly deliver well-crafted espressos and cuppucinos as well as drip coffee with high quality seasonal beans. The cakes served here mostly are homemade and they handcrafted their signature 3D art chocolate carefully and creatively!
Customers are recommended to try their Matcha Pound Cake as it is so sweet, buttery and rich. This beautifully earthy green matcha colour cake was served tasted less sweet with a slight bitter green tea taste in it. It’s refreshing flavor goes surprisingly well with dairy and sugar, hence creating a great combination of flavors in this Western and Japanese style dessert.

Founded in year 2007 as a homemade mille crepe bakery, Humble Beginnings is well-known for their various flavours of cheesecake and mille crepe. Using only the finest ingredients from hand-picked durians to homemade fruit jam, with no artificial coloring or flavourig, their mille crepe are never kept for more than 48 hours to ensure the freshness.
Humble Beginnings’ signature creations are essentially Mille Crepes with various flavors. A Mille Crepe is a quintessential French Cake with the word “mille” meaning “a thousand”. Remember to try out their Matcha Latte Mille Crepe.
This signature creation of theirs consists of 18 to 20 layers of crepes with a delightful combination of Fresh Cream and Matcha Custard between each layer, making it irresistible, beautiful and super delicious. They used high grade of matcha powder for matcha flavour and loaded with red beans to make this dessert, then finishing it with dashes of pure matcha powder. We used to eat Japanese cake and ice cream matcha, but have you ever heard of Japanese water cake? Japanese water cake also known as Mizu Shingen Mochi is a famous dessert in Japan. Yokosuka Curry House is the first stall to introduce this popular Japanese cake into Johor bahru (JB). It has launched in two flavours , Original (brown sugar sauce) or the Matcha flavour.

In the past, you have to travel to either Japan or Korea, but now, you need not longer have to do so if you would like to have a try on it. Yokosuka Curry House is located at City Square level 3 Innercity, directly opposite the Wongkok restaurant. However, it is a small and compact stall and there is about 5 limited seats surrounding the stall.
Mizu Shingen Mochi looks like a drop of water or jelly but in fact it is a cake. Honestly, this cake is tasteless but the texture is rather interesting. Therefore, the matcha syrup and peanut powder have been added to make it taste better. For your information, you are encouraged to eat it within 30 minutes, otherwise it will be dissolved in water and you have no chance to try it!

Bev C is a clothing label with its name derived from duo founders Beverly and Cally in year 2013. The first floor spelt of rustic-ness and assumed an industrial chic look while rows of neatly arranged garments lined within the perimeters of the store.
A staircase led us up to a cafe which saw a crowd on a Saturday morning. Upon arriving, you will surely be amazed by the the nice backdrop of the cafe with large shelves full of books that matches the vintage feeling ornaments which is suitable for having OOTDs.
Remember to place an order on their Matcha Pie. BEV C’s Matcha Pie was unique with what seemed to be mounted on a charcoal crust. The fillings were rich in taste, not over whelming sweet nor bitter and the matcha powder dusted over would make biting it really messy. This combination of black charcoal crust and green matcha filling makes a great color contrasts for Instagram photos too.
Another recommendation of BEV C’s matcha series would be the Matcha Milk with Espresso Iced Cubes. You would not know that actually matcha and coffee could go hand-in-hand before having it. The matcha milk was smooth and rich, with a sweetness that complemented the bitterness of the espresso. It was a well-balanced drink overall.

This nice modern cafe which is famed for its large pink wall out at the front serves soft serve ice-cream with varieties of toppings such as cereal, popcorn, fruits and chocolate sprinkles.
