Yong Peng Duck Noodles
We are starting the list off with an entry (or rather, entrée) of delicious duck noodles. Located along Jalan Mah Choo, in the prominent food court in that area, sits a humble stall selling all kinds of noodles, ranging from the typical fare of fish ball noodles to their signature braised duck noodles.
The noodles sold here are made fresh by hand on site, and the owners take no shortcuts nor do they sacrifice quality for ease or speed. The duck is braised to perfection with just the right amount of herbs and spices and simmered over a medium low heat for hours, ensuring that the meat is soft enough to fall off the bone.
Also present in the delicious broth are braised hard boiled eggs and tofu, which complement the meat of the duck well, adding texture to the smoothness of the meat. Add all of that to a bowl of freshly blanched noodles and a wonderful plate of herbal goodness is made. Try it today, you may end up coming for more!

Time for another one of Malaysia’s timeless classics; a piping hot bowl of laksa. Kedai Makan Ah Poh, roughly translated as Ah Poh’s Eatery, has been serving laksa for many years down the line now, and with that time comes experience beyond measure.
The noodles served here are springy and have a good bite to them, and are perfectly paired with the spicy laksa broth. The spiciness of said broth can be tailored to suit your taste buds by adding the preferred amount of sambal, a thick chilli paste.
The bean curd, or tau pok, served alongside the laksa does a perfect job at absorbing the broth, and become sponges bursting with flavor when dipped into the laksa. A must visit place in Yong Peng, you will not want to miss this one.

Kedai Membuat Kuih-Muih Eng Hin (永兴福州饼面厂)
A third entry on our list to feature Fuzhou inspired cuisine, with a twist. This shop does not serve the noodles nor meat offerings of the former two, but instead should be the next stop after having a meal at one of those restaurants, as they sell dessert here!
Eng Hin is more or less a traditional bakery or confectionery, serving traditional Fuzhou biscuits, bread, salted pancakes, and also freshly made noodles. They also have a well-known kom pia, a Fuzhou classic, and is a type of bread with filling, similar to a bagel of sorts.
Admittedly, some of the products sold here are imported from elsewhere, but the majority of the products are self-made and are made fresh daily, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. So whenever you find yourself in the town of Yong Peng, be sure to visit Eng Hin for a dose of traditional pastries and snacks.

Restoran Kari Kambing 40 Hari
A notable entry on our list, as the reviews of this place outnumber all the others combined, Restaurant Kari Kambing 40 Hari is notorious for its signature curried meat over yellow rice. This restaurant draws crowds from all over, all the more reason for you to drop by and have yourself a plate.
They serve a variety of curries, but the main staple here is their mutton curry, so much so that it is the basis for their restaurant name. The mutton is simmered in a mix of herbs and spices as well as curry over long periods of time, and is served so tender you’ll never get anything close to it other than here.
The meat just falls apart, and melts in your mouth like nothing else. The portions are also huge, with chunks of mutton almost half the size of the plate they are served in. A definite landmark on its own, Restoran Kari Kambing 40 Hari should very well be on your hit list if it isn’t already. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
