How to get from Singapore to Malaysia
Malaysia is the closest trip most people in Singapore take. Think of a weekend in Johor Bahru, a family day at LEGOLAND, the beaches at Desaru, the old town of Melaka, or the long drive north to Kuala Lumpur, Genting and Penang. There is no need to fly from Changi to Senai or KLIA for most of these. By land you leave when you want and arrive at the door you choose. These are the four ways to make the crossing.
1. A private car with a driver
The easiest way. The driver collects you from your home, hotel or Changi Airport, takes the car through Woodlands or Tuas and the Malaysian checkpoint, and drops you at your hotel, resort or family’s address. Through Woodlands you stay seated, through Tuas you step out for immigration, your bags stay in the boot, and the fare is fixed for the whole car, so a family of five pays the same as a couple. There is no need to queue for a street taxi at Queen Street.
2. A coach
Coaches leave from several terminals in Singapore for Johor Bahru, Melaka and Kuala Lumpur, and they are usually the cheapest way per person. They run to a timetable, stop at bus terminals rather than your address, and everyone gets off with their bags at both checkpoints, which takes longer at peak times and during school holidays.
3. The shuttle train from Woodlands Train Checkpoint
The shuttle runs between Woodlands Train Checkpoint and JB Sentral in a few minutes and skips the Causeway traffic. It only goes to Johor Bahru, the tickets sell out early around festivals, and you still need a way from JB Sentral to where you are staying.
4. Driving yourself
Your own car gives you the most freedom on a longer trip. First-time drivers often find the routes and the checkpoint lanes confusing, and the tolls, fuel, parking and Vehicle Entry Permit add up to more than most people plan for.

Do we get out of the car at the checkpoint?
It depends on the checkpoint. Through Woodlands you stay in the car. Through Tuas, passengers get out for immigration and get back in after clearance; your driver will guide you. If an officer asks you to step out, please follow their instructions.
What does the fare include?
The car and your own driver, fuel, highway tolls, parking, the checkpoint entry fee and the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP). Child seats, extra stops and waiting time cost extra, and only if you ask for them.
Is the price per car or per person?
Per car. A family of six in an Innova pays the same fixed fare as one person.
When and how do we pay?
There is no deposit. You pay at the end of the trip, in cash to the driver or by PayNow to the company.
Can we take a ride-hailing car across the border?
Ride-hailing trips usually stay within one country. For a cross-border trip, book a car that crosses the border, like ours.
Are passengers insured?
Yes. Our vehicles carry passenger insurance, and our cars are inspected. Ask us if you need the details.
What if my flight is delayed?
Send us your flight number and we follow your arrival. The first hour of waiting at the airport is free; if you need longer, please check with our team.
