A Day Trip to Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru is about 1–2 hours door to door, depending mostly on checkpoint queues, so it is easy as a day trip for food, shopping or family visits. A return trip in Greater JB is SGD200 for a Toyota Innova or SGD260 for a Toyota Alphard / Vellfire or Hyundai Staria / Starex, with fuel, parking, tolls and checkpoint entry fee included. If you would like the driver to wait between stops, waiting time in Malaysia is SGD35 per hour for a Toyota Innova or SGD40 per hour for a larger vehicle. Are there any extra charges?
Only if you ask for them: child seats at SGD10 / RM35 each, SGD10 per additional pickup or drop-off point in Singapore, and waiting in Malaysia at SGD35 per hour (Toyota Innova) or SGD40 per hour (Toyota Alphard / Vellfire or Hyundai Staria / Starex). Is a private car better than a cross-border taxi?
For a small group with light luggage going into JB city, a cross-border taxi can be a good option. For bigger groups, plenty of luggage, a destination outside the taxi drop-off area, waiting time or extra stops, a private car is usually simpler and often cheaper per person.
Can a cross-border taxi take us anywhere in Johor?
No. Cross-border taxis can only drop off in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai. For anywhere else, a private car drives the whole way.
