The caretaker is so humorous and friendly, hence making the tour really exciting and fun. As he tours around, he would share about his experiences of taking care of these ostriches and also telling how adorable these ostriches are. Do you know that these big birds are actually a good source of protein ?

Here, Desaru Ostrich Farm do provide mouth-watering ostrich cuisines such as Ostrich Tempayaki, Ostrich Satay, Ostrich Burger, Ostrich Nuggets and Ostrich Omelette. These protein do taste more springy, juicier and tender than other type of proteins that we usually eat but the smell of ostrich meat is quite strong and it would left you with a mouthful of ‘ostrich’ smell after the dining. Remember to order their own-inspired Ostrich Bak-Kut-Teh too. This significant dish of theirs bring Bak-Kut-Teh dish to another level, where the smell of the ostrich meat is balanced with the herbal soup, producing a natural sweet broth which could be great to pair with a bowl of rice.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

6. WATCH BABY OSTRICH HATCHING

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

There is an ostrich hatchery available in Desaru Ostrich Farm where ostrich eggs are collected and incubated here. For your information, ostrich eggs can weight up to 1.5 kg and 15 cm in diameter. These huge eggs required 40 to 60 days to hatch, with suitable temperature. Besides, these baby ostriches are quite large when compared with other livestock, they does have the size of mature rooster since hatched.
