3. Gunung Belumut
Gunung Belumut, which translates literally as mossy mountain in English, is said to have gotten its name from the prevalence of mossy and slippery rocks in the area. Having a height of over 1010 feet above sea level, it has been declared as the third highest mountain in the state after Gunung Ledang (1276m) and Gunung Besar (1035m).
Located about 30 kilometres away from Kluang Town, the mountain sits inside a forest reserve near Felda Ulu Dengar, is a well known trekking and camping destination to locals around the area and surrounding districts. The climb to its summit would required four to six hours for an average climber and the return to the foot using the similar route would takes three to four hours.
Before reaching the summit of Gunung Belumut, climbers will first pass by a ‘false summit’, where overnight camping is possible under fair weather conditions.
