1. The Stadthuys
The name ‘Stadthuys’ is derived from an old Dutch word meaning city hall, which is fitting for a place also known as the Red Square. Located in the heart of Melaka, the Stadthuys is easily identifiable even from afar, as the buildings are all an iconic shade of dark red.
The centre was built in the 1650 by the Dutch, and served as the office quarters of the Dutch Governor and Deputy Governor at the time, and is now believed to be the oldest surviving Dutch building in the East.
The area here is marked by the now-iconic brick-red clock tower as well as the Christ Church, and the main building has been converted into a museum, known formally as the History and Ethnography Museum, and within it you will find a history section detailing what we know of Melaka from the years 1400 up till the Malaysian Independence
An ethnography section showcasing renditions of the culture and lifestyle of the various racial communities in Malaysia, and artifacts ranging from musical instruments to weapons to porcelain as well as ancient currency.

2. Maritime Museum And Naval Museum Malacca
If you have ever seen Melaka on a brochure, then you have most probably seen at least a silhouette of the Malacca Maritime and Naval Museum. The Maritime Museum is built into a replica of the Portuguese carrack named the Flor de la Mar, translated as the Flower of the Sea, which was lost to sea in the month of November, 1511.
The museum, which consists of the replica as well as a building housing the Naval Museum, features many different depictions of life from the Melaka Sultanate period, as well as ships from different countries, life-sized cannons, and also wildlife from many different biomes.
A truly unique museum experience and it is a good place for Malacca one day trip.

3. St. Paul’s Church
One of the oldest buildings here in Melaka, the St. Paul’s Church was originally built in 1521, which makes it the oldest church in the entirety of Southeast Asia. Originally a simple chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the church was then expanded upon in the following years to include a second floor, a belfry tower, a burial vault, and a school.
Today, the chapel lays in ruins but for the most part, the foundation and main walls remains intact. The remaining preserved tombstones are bolted down to the walls within the church, and a statue of St.
Francis Xavier was erected in front of the church as a sign of commemoration of the 400th anniversary of his residence in Melaka. A must-see for all who want a glimpse into the past of this historical site in Malacca one day trip.

The river runs through many of the popular landmarks in Melaka, so if you know what to look for, you’re definitely in for a great trip.
The cruise takes around 45 minutes, and along the way you’ll be able to spot places such as the Church of St. Francis Xavier, the Stadthuys, the Tan Kim Seng Bridge, and many more. Visitors coming here can expect to have a stunning view of the entire Bandar Hilir area, as well as the Melaka Strait. We recommend coming here at night, where you will get to experience the full spectacle of Melaka at night; a beautiful lightshow of activity on the streets and buildings below.
Let the night view be the beautiful ending for the Malacca one day trip.

6. Coronation Park Malacca
The Coronation Park Malacca, or more commonly known as the Taman Bunga Melaka, is located along Jalan Kota. The name ‘Coronation Park’ was given to commemorate the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II, way back in the June of 1953.
The Taman Bunga Melaka has noticeably shrunk over the years, as the city of Melaka continued to develop and some of the land that was once the park has been converted into other buildings and roads.
It features a public swimming pool, outdoor exhibits of traditional transportation (so much so that sometimes this place is also referred to as the Melaka Transportation Museum), as well as many relics of a age gone but not forgotten. An ancient place in disguise.
It is a good place to those people who like to know the history of Malaysia transportation in Malacca one day trip.

7. Jonker Street
Jonker Street, or also known as Jonker Walk, is the renowned Chinatown area in Melaka, famous for the rich heritage behind each and every building in the area, as well as the bustling night market that goes on Friday thru Sunday. The street used to be filled with the homes of the Peranakans, which are a subcultural mix of Chinese and Malay races, hence giving the Jonker its distinct ethnic flair.
During the day, Jonker Street is filled with businesses housed in historical buildings, some of which have been renovated over the years and made more visitor-friendly. You can get the famous Chicken Rice Balls here, as well as Durian Cendol and many other traditional treats if you take the time to look carefully.
During the night, particularly from Friday up till Sunday, the area transforms into a busy, crowded Jonker Street night market, filled to the brim with vendors selling anything you can think of from clothing to traditional snacks to drinks of every kind. The buskers here also deserve a shout out, as their music and performances stand out from the voices of people haggling prices and vendors promoting their wares.
A must visit place when you are in Melaka one day trip, just for the experience alone if not for the food and souvenirs.

8. Kedai Kopi Chung Wah
This beloved restaurant is located along Jalan Hang Jebat, in the middle of Jonker Street. The restaurant is dressed as any other traditional eatery, with circular marble top tables, large engraved signs bearing the restaurant’s name, as well as plenty of framed Chinese calligraphy.
The restaurant is well known for its Chicken Rice Balls. The age old tradition of the shop is to serve the best chicken rice balls to all their patrons who come from far and wide, and these rice balls are made on the daily. The rice is fragrant and slightly sticky, and the chicken is well cooked and tender yet juicy. It is also a Must go place for every Malaysian when they go for the Malacca one day trip. A must-try in your Jonker Street food hunt!

9. Famosa Chicken Rice Ball
Another contender for the chicken rice ball crown is the Famosa Chicken Rice Ball restaurant, located along Jalan Hang Kasturi which is not too far from from Chung Wah. In terms of looks, this place has a more conventional chicken rice stall design, with chickens lined up behind the glass panel of the butchering station, where the meat will be prepared while customers can watch as the chef expertly chops and slices the chicken to bite sized pieces.
The main highlight here is, of course, the Chicken Rice Balls! The rice has hints of ginger and slightly smells of chicken broth, and the chicken itself is smooth and tender, with minimal oil but maintains a juicy bite throughout.

10. Low Yong Moh Restaurant
The Low Yong Moh Restaurant is located along Jalan Tukang Emas and is a very classic and authentic-looking dim sum shop in the heart of Jonker Street. The aesthetics of the place have presumably changed very little over the years, thus preserving that old-timey look.
They serve a wide variety of dim sum here, all the way from Shrimp Wantons to Yam Cakes. We recommend going for their buns, or more specifically their Steamed Pork Bun and their Custard Buns.
The pork is plentiful and rich in flavour, and the custard is copious and adequately sweet. The buns are made fresh and taste superior to anything store bought, so be sure to try them out before they run out!

The top level is a dessert place with lots of seating arrangements and decorated with casks of Chinese alcohol.
The San Shu Gong isn’t your conventional food stop, rather it sells traditional snacks and drinks by the bucket load, and whatever you had in your childhood, you could probably find here. They also have a dessert floor selling Cendol and Cendol Durian, which is also delicious and made fresh.

The Zoo also functions as a Night Safari, where patrons can get up close and personal with the zoo’s nocturnal animals (animals which are active at night). A well rounded experience for people of all ages.

13. Melaka Straits Mosque
The Melaka Straits Mosque is a relatively new monument, established on the 24th of November in the year 2006 by the Supreme Ruler of Malaysia (or known locally as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong) at that time, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail. It took a whopping cost of around RM10 million to construct, but the end result is no less of a masterpiece.
The mosque not only overlooks the Melaka Strait, but is also technically over it, as it was built on an artificial island and, on top of that, is on a raised platform above the water.
When the tide rolls in, the entire structure looks as if it was floating, which is quite the spectacle if you catch it at the right angle.
Fret not, as non-Muslims are graciously welcome to enter, with the requirements being that they are dressed modestly and treat the place with respect.

During the museum’s construction, five Ming-era wells were unearthed, strengthening allegations about the site.
The museum today showcases the life of Zheng He and his adventures, displaying artist renditions of his travels as well as a bit of Chinese history.
Named the largest museum in Melaka with a total floor area of 5,110 square metres, this is a definite must-visit for any history enthusiast out there coming to Melaka.

Showcasing the local history of the Chinese-Malays, or also known as the Baba Nyonya or the Peranakan people, the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum is situated in the centre of Melaka City. It was established in 1986 by a fourth generation Baba by the name of Chan Kim Lay, which has resided in this very establishment built by his great-grandfather around the year 1896 along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock.
The museum is built upon an existing house owned by a real descendant of Baba Nyonya heritage, and that is as authentic as it gets. The museum contains authentic pieces of Baba Nyonya culture trip, in the form of paintings, furniture, tools, as well as pictures and utensils. The original family can be seen among the many pictures, and through them you can get the feel of how the family once lived in these very halls.
Along the years, many a ruler has stopped by to admire and appreciate this historic site, from the ex-President of China Hu Jintao in 2009 to the ex-President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan in 2013. If it’s enough to captivate even presidents, it would surely be an amazing sight for the rest of us.

Next up for a must include in Malacca one day trip, we have the Restoran Tong Sheng, located in the Taman Melaka Raya area. It is made out of a combination of two shop lots and designed as any other traditional Chinese restaurant or eatery goes; with lots of framed Chinese inscriptions and plastic chairs as well as banquet style tables.
The food here is absolutely delicious, especially the seafood options which are very well thought-out. We recommend getting the Signature Milk Crab, although it is really an acquired taste, and the Cheese Mee Hoon.
