Ulu Tiram (乌鲁地南) is a suburb area in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The town lies along trunk road number three, named Tebrau Highway, at the junction which leads to Ulu Tiram. The trunk road leads on to Mersing in northeast Johor and Kuantan in Pahang. Ulu Tiram is easily accessible through the Tebrau Highway, Jalan Kota Tinggi trunk road, and the Senai–Desaru Expressway.
Since the 1990s, the urban expansion of Johor Bahru has ended Ulu Tiram’s relative isolation and it is now one of the fastest growing suburbs of the city as part of the Tebrau growth corridor. The town hosts a taxi depot which ferries people around Johor as well as to Johor Bahru too, which ease every residents and visitors to travel around.The town is of little interest; markets and shop-houses selling various provisions and accessories constitutes much of the town. This eatery has been in business for more than 16 years until now. The founder was came from Teluk Intan, Perak and started this business since year 2001 in Johor Bahru. People keep coming back for their homemade noodles with tasty chicken feet.
Their homemade noodles is use the flour and the fresh eggs to made, the noodles is thick and full of elastic. Their Charsiew is also a highlight in the town. This is due to they use the lean meat and pickled for hours, so the meat is tasty and juicy.
Of course not only few of highlight here, they also have a signature for the shop is braised chicken feet. The chicken feet match with the noodles can apply the word “perfect match”, delicious. There’s nothing like eating your comfort food when you feel blue. So, if you feel tired, stressed or sad, head over this food place and have a bowl of their hot and delicious pork meat soup that can take you troubles away. This pork meat noodles stall located at Taman Gaya is different from others too with its unique soup cooked by using only pork chunks, which provide a rich meat taste but it is not oily at the same time. The seamless taste makes many people fall in love once take a bite of it. Their signature dish is pork meat noodles.
The layered savoriness came from pork bones and chicken, while the sweetness of the fresh minced pork, liver, intestines and juicy cabbages could be tasted obviously. Tiram Laksa
The stall where located opposite to the primary school, the famous Tiram Laksa. The owner here has some rare determination which is hardly found in the current urban people now, where he intend to provide the most original taste of Ulu Tiram Laksa that is passed down from generations to the community and even tourists there.
This stall is located in their house, so it’s very convenient for them to do the business daily besides offer a friendly environment for everyone who are having their Laksa. At the early stage, the owner sold his Tiram Laksa by riding the old school tricycle travelling along the Tiram streets. Even they are still using it now sometimes, it do ease every community in Ulu Tiram to have a nice bowl of Laksa without stepping out from their home.
It’s an old Laksa eatery that you must try in Ulu Tiram. What’s special about Tiram Laksa would be their tasty and rich coconut broth that has the right amount of coconut milk and red chili and it is the reason why locals keep coming back for more. The owner also provide a generous amount of side ingredients in the Tiram Laksa, such as bean sprouts, fried fishballs, sliced fishcakes, quail eggs, toufu, fried wantan.

4. Old Upstairs Wei Sheng Yuan Coffee Shop (衛生園茶餐室)
The coffee shop introduced here is special as there is no signboard at the door and even the side door, which keep the coffee shop low profile. Guests will only be surprised when they walk up the stairs in order to spot this hidden coffee shop. What is even more amazing in this place is this unbranded coffee shop is always full of people, especially in the morning where everyone come for the breakfast!
All Johor Bahru-ian will knows this place even this coffee shop is low profile due to their delicious and affordable food. This coffee shop managed by the two sister and brother since decades ago. The location is very easy to find and is located near Ulu Tiram primary school.
From the direction of the overpass to the direction of the primary school, you can start looking for the parking and the coffee shop is on the left hand side of the building.
The coffee sells here is hundred percent guaranteed traditional hand-made, if you a coffee lover you must have a try here. Butter and Kaya baked toast is a traditional breakfast that must not be missed. The toast is very crispy after baked, with thick creamy slices and moderately sweetened kaya sauce, which is a favorite traditional way to eat. In additional, the half-boiled egg here are fresh A little curious about what brand of eggs the boss uses ? Yes, they are using fresh kampung chicken egg!!!

The Kampung eggs’ egg yolks are very bright yellow and it is said that it is more nutritious than ordinary eggs too! Another highlight is the sambal egg bread. It was found that only sambal bread was more common in South Malaysia. The baked bread a sandwich by an egg. You will very surprise. In order to safe costs, many merchants they only sandwich the bread with one-third of the egg only. It’s thin and the egg yolk is broken so you can’t taste it well. But this is different in here!
Another food you may not be missed is Nasi Lemak. Although this Nasi Lemak didn’t provide anchovies but no an big issue here. This is due to the protagonist is sambal and Nasi Lemak. The rice is full scent of the santan and grainy and the taste is good. However, do remember to reach there earlier since the coffee shop is usually packed with people, especially during the weekends and public holidays.

Start your day at this old and famous restaurant in Ulu Tiram that serves coffee and toast for breakfast that will make your whole day vibrant! From sandwiches and Wantan Mee to cakes and refreshing beverages, your cravings will be satisfied. The fragrant coffee is made from the old-fashioned coffee powder.
Unlike instant coffee, these coffee powder are needed to be brewed and simmered for several minutes before adding any additional flavor such as milk and sugar. It is to ensure a nice and ‘kao’ (thick) coffee base before serving. It has a strong ancient taste that surely able to bring anyone’s childhood memories after having a taste of it!
Besides traditional coffee, there are also plenty types of toast bread here. We would like to recommend their most special menu in this shop, which is the toast with eggs and sambal chili. The toast grilled is crispy with tender eggs and sambal. It’s a different taste from other toast as it is a little more spicy, where fragrance of chillies and spices involved in the sambal would just spilled out once it is chew.
They also sell other traditional Malaysia and Singapore Chinese food such as Nasi Lemak, Wantan Mee and Mianfenguo. Most imporatntly is that all of these menus are freshly prepared every morning to ensure that the guests are able to have the best food.
The open kitchen of the shop, like a tea factory, is busy with many workers and customers. It feels like a very energetic coffee shop, ant the service speed is faster than what you expect. The foods here is nice and the price is reasonable.
