Also known as the best night market in Malaysia, this night market takes place every Friday and Saturday nights. 2. Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum
Full with collections of three beautifully restored 19th Century Baba-Nyonya resident, Baba-Nyonya Heritage Museum definitely brings you back to the older times. The three-storey museum is uniquely designed from exterior to interior.
Framed by Greco-Roman columns, two red lanterns, a bearing household name, and other messages of good luck, hang on both sides of the entrance. A collection of wood furniture and gold-leaf fixtures also make the residence classy.
This museum is privately operated by descendants of Chan’s family, which is the richest family in town. They provide tours in the museum, explaining the colorful Peranakan lifestyle and culture during the good old times. 3. Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum
Established in year 2006, Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum provides an exhibition of admiral Cheng Ho (Zheng He) life during Chinese Ming Dynasty. Cheng Ho’s notable contribution to Malacca including bringing the Emperor’s Daughter, Princess Hang Li Po, to marry The Malacca Sultan in the mid 15th century. This led to creation of Baba Nyonya Culture.
About 600 years ago, it is belived that this museum works as a warehouse to store goods temporarily during Cheng Ho’s travel. Now, Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum showcase various evidence of cultural exchanges between local etnic groups and Chinese. Among others, you may find navigation instruments, tea house and treasure ships from China.

4. Cheng Hoon Teng Temple
Travelling back to year 1646, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple would be the oldest traditional Chinese Temple in Malacca. Built with only building ingredients imported from China, this temple assemble designs and crafting of older Chinese believes. Even artisans and constructors from China are involved too.
Besides, you could find a robed golden Guanyin effigy within the main temple hall. There are also small chambers around the temple which are dedicated to the deceased ancestors. Incense paper and paper-made luxury items would be burnt to provide a better ‘living’ condition for them in their afterlife.
Known as “Merciful Cloud Temple” by the locals, it remained as a central place for all Buddhist to worship and pray Guanyin, the Mercy Goddess. If you noticed carefully, you could find that Cheng Hoon Teng Temple was built based on Feng Shui Principles. Each cravings on those dark timber woodwork carries its own meanings.
Not forgot to mention that the temple received an Award of Merit from UNESCO for Asia-Pacific Heritage Conservation after its completed restoration in year 2001.

5. Kampung Kling Mosque
Kampung Kling Mosque is one of the oldest mosque in Malacca which still retains its original design. Built by Indian Muslim traders in year 1748 during the Dutch colonial era, this mosque uses a combination of various culture construction style. The architecture design of the mosque combined influences from Sumatran, Chinese, Hindus, local Malay community and even European aesthetics.
Another specialty of the mosque is that they even included a combination of Chinese ceramic tiles as well as European and Portuguese glazed tiles to adorn its roof and interior design.
Besides, a fountain-like pool for ablutions could be found at the courtyard behind Kampung Kling Mosque. Moorish cast iron lamp posts can be seen too.
Well, non-muslims tourists are allowed to visit Kampung King Mosque. However, please remember that the visit only limited until mosque’s porch area only. For female visitors, you would be given a veil to cover your hair before entering.

6. Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Temple
It is hard to omit the bright yellow temple while wandering around Malacca Jonker Street. Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Temple has colorful Hindu deities and animal statues crafted by ostentatious stones.
Featuring with Dutch architecture design, this rectangular-shaped Hindu temple is dedicated to the Vinayagar, the elephant-headed deity in Hindu. The temple would be crowded during every festive season as prominent Hindu festivals usually been carried out here.
Inside Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Temple, the main altar is dedicated to the Ganesh while the side altars are dedicated to Ganesh’s parents and his younger brother, Lord Muraga. These structures are preserved well despite a history of hundred years old.

8. Red Square (Dutch Square)
This Malacca’s most defining structure was built by the Dutch in 1753 when they took possession of Malacca from the Portuguese. The church was built to celebrate the century old Dutch occupation and to worship the God.
Surrounded by red painting buildings, Red Square reflects Malacca’s history. The architecture design of those red buildings are influenced by the Dutch, Chinese and Portuguese during the golden times.
There is a big fountain at the center of square, commemorating Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Besides, the whole area is full of attractions. You can even watch amazing street performances while wandering at Red Square.

9. Masjid Kampung Hulu
Masjid Kampung Hulu is a mosque with predominantly Javanese style. It has an architecture of three ascending layers of flared pyramidal roofs. Influenced by the Chinese culture, the mosque even occupied with pagoda-like stone minarets and ceramic roof tiles.

If you’re looking for some Western cuisine, then you’ve come to the right place. The Baboon House is located along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, in the Kampung Bukit China area and features a very rustic, old timey style complete with rattan furniture and antique looking walls.
The serve what many claim to be the best hamburgers in all of Jonker. We recommend that you try out their Pork Belly Burger with a side of their delicious Potato Wedges.
