Just as its shop name suggested, it is a must for you to have a try on their Kway Teow Soup. They are serving their customers with Kway Teow Soup just like the good old times, where all the food ingredients are being kept simple, but yet delicious will keep the tummy full.

Upon serving, you will noticed that this simple bowl of Kway Teow Soup of theirs has generous amount of smooth, silky kway teow soaked in a clear transparent soup base and garnished with some bean sprouts and spring onions to enhance its fragrance. The soup base is flavorful, and you even can taste the meaty taste of the pork bone used in preparing the soup base in every slurp.

Besides that, 十五楼阿坚果条汤 also serves delicious hand made mee pok, both in soup or dried version. These thin hand made noodles are prepared fresh daily by the owner everyday. It has a chewy texture but its overall taste does depended on its sauce or the soup.

Bar Wang Rice is a corner restaurant in Permas Jaya that is always busy and crowded with lots of foodies. Literally known as Tyrant Rice, Bar Wang Rice is a a wallet friendly place that serves their guests with wide varieties of delicious economic rice cuisines in an affordable price. 3.Fang Yuan Kopitiam (芳源咖啡店)


Fang Yuan Kopitiam is considered as one of the oldest but still functioning kopitiam available in Johor Bahru. This hidden delicious wanton mee is located in one of the stall in Xin Thianman Kopitiam. It is not the usual wanton mee and it is the one that you should make a special trip just to enjoy it. Mr Loong, the ownr of the wanton mee stall is proud to say that he had served his wanton mee there for more than 20 years. All of his wanton mee never failed anyone since operating.

锦旺云吞面 is popular for their wanton mee in char siew sauce blend, special chicken broth and some slices of char siew. The wanton mee egg noodle is soft, springy and chewy. It taste savory sweet as it gained its overall flavor after tossing it in a mixture of the char siew sauce and the chicken stock.

For the wanton mee broth, it is prepared by broiling the chicken, chicken feet, chicken bones and anchovies ina big pot for several hours, providing the pot of broth a flavorful taste. This creamy looking broth is then seasoned to give it a savory taste before serving.

Sin Soon Li Mee Hoon Kueh is a low key type of mee hoon kueh food stop around the Permas Jaya neighbourhood. Upon arriving at the food stop, you will be seeing two ladies (Madam Lim and her best friend, Ah Mei) are there busying with cooking and preparing the mee hoon kueh.

Ten years before Sin Soon Li was opened, Madam Lim runs a mee hoon kueh stall at Gek Poh hawker centre Singapore. She then returned to Johor Bahru when the hawker center rent escalated. She is proud and feeling grateful that she raised her three children by selling this humble Mee Hoon Kueh.

Just as its name suggested, this food stop is famous for their Hand Torn Mee Hoon Kueh. This bowl of noodle cuisine is usually served hot, with thinly hand torn mee hoon kueh dough dipped in hot cloudy anchovy soup. Unlike the common noodle stall, SIn Soon Li Mee Hoon Kueh serves their Mee Hoon Kueh in a heavy deep porcelain bowl instead of a plastic one. However, it is recommended by the foodies who had visited both of the Ah Sheng’s lok lok stall that the lok lok stall in Bandar baru Permas is more delicious and provided with more options.

Although there are limited varieties of lok loks available in Ah Sheng Lok Lok, but every of these lok loks are guaranteed fresh as the owner would only sell an estimated amount of lok lok and replenish them a little by little once sold out. This little humble Penang Asam Laksa stall is now a rage in Johor Bahru. Literally known as ‘God Mom’s Asam laksa’, this Penang style Asam Laksa can now be enjoyed in one of the housing estate in Permas Jaya. But it is recommended for you to arrive there early to avid for the long queue as this Asam Laksa is relatively famous among the area, especially during the brunch time.

The stall owner, Miss Beh hails from Bukit Mertajam, Penang. She the started her Penang Asam Laksa still several months ago and her business is now booming among the Permas Jaya community. Each of her hearty Asam Laksa is prepared freshly daily, with food ingredients from the the local market such as asam keping, bunga kantan, daun kesom, lettuce leaves, onions, pineapples, cucumbers and so on.

Serves in a gorgeous brownish red broth, Miss Beh’s Penang Asam Laksa has a balanced flavor of sour, spicy hot, savory and sweet due to the finely chopped herbs and spices used during the preparation. There would be no hint of the sardine since she is using only fresh sardine instead of the canned sardine in her Asam Laksa broth.

Pull yourself over along Jalan Permas 10/5 to check out the wide varieties of food stalls at the Corner Coffee Shop at Jalan Permas junction during the evening. There were many hawker stalls selling some local delicacies such as oh chien, char kway teow, claypot rice, satay and more. But there was one stall that we are sure that you couldn’t resist.

There is a salted grilled fish stall at the corner of the coffee shop. The owner of this stall is always busy preparing and serving their signature salted grilled fish of every orders of her customers

During the preparation of the salted grill fish, the skin of the fish will first be rubbed with lots of coarse salt along with its scales, then grilled directly on the hot sizzling charcoal grill. The boss will carefully lift the skin and scale of the fish once it is perfectly grilled before serving to the customers. Sprinkles of some seasonings to enhance the flavor of the fish, it also offers the overall flavor of the grilled fish too.

This dish is best eaten while still hot, with some home made chili sauce made by the stall owner. There is no hint of fishy smell in every bite of the fish too. You may even taste the juiciness and natural sweetness from the fish flesh in every bite.
