IT Roo Café in Johor Bahru is a Jalan Dhoby Halal Cafe with Halal certified. They claims to serve the best chicken chops in the city – from the perspective of the crowds and queues. The space in the restaurant is extravagant and the tables are just a few inches apart.
Most people who dine here love to choose Chicken Chop 2 eggs as their meal. But IT Roo Café’s star product is Chicken Chop with black pepper or mushroom sauce. Customer are allow to choose to have it in golden fried or grilled.
Portion of the chicken chops are fair. The chicken chops have a crispy appearance with a juicy center. This makes that the chicken chops are way better than others brand chicken chops. The key to this delicious food?
The sauce. But honest to say that the chicken chops with black pepper sauce is more favorable than mushroom sauce. The mushroom sauce is milder and does not add any flavor into the chicken chops.
Besides that, IT Roo Café’s Cantonese Kueh Tiaw also taste good. The flat rice noodles with a good coke dose, thick gravy, flavor packed and laced with egg. The service provided is very effective, the customer don’t have to wait too long for the food to arrive.

Have you ever tried the pastry of Salahuddin Bakery? Salahuddin Bakery opened in 1973. The store sells more than 20 kinds of snacks and breads.
The highly recommended will be their curry puff, which has different choices of fillings, such as chicken, lamb or potato. Besides, all the bread and cakes are baked from the store’s stone kiln oven, which produce a highly memorable taste.
Salahuddin Bakery is also listed as one of the historical and cultural heritage of Johor Bahru by the Johor Bahru City Government.
Roti Kok-traditional bread is coated with butter and sugar and baked to crispy. Each taste of it will bring more and more fragrant to the diner. The Replacement is one of the most popular Jalan Dhoby cafe in Johor Bahru’s cafe. There is no doubt that the beautiful white walls provide a good backdrop for those delicious coffee and food. The cafe has a minimalist design.
In this cafe, waiting is almost commonplace, so it is recommended to come as early as possible to avoid the delicacies being sold out.
The cafe brews coffee very seriously and this is the only cafe you will see in Johor Bahru that serves Piccolo latte. Piccolo latte is very smooth in textures and delicious.
For the seafood and greens lovers, Green Power 2.0 is their ideal choice. It’s very much like a nut salad salad with poached eggs. The eggs are perfectly cooked, the interior is soft and complements well with the nuts and greens.
Smoked salmon and avocado are good additives with different tastes and textures, adding another dimension to the dishes. It is a very tasty, healthy and delicious dish.

A really cool and unique cafe name Flower in the Window. This cafe is located in Jalan Dhoby JB’s coffee area. More likely appeared as a flower shop than a cafe.
The cafe is beautifully decorated with flora and fauna drawings. The picturesque cafe is housed in a 2-storey shop house with a beautiful facade.
The dining area is decorated with comfortable sofas in earthly tones in order to suit the theme of the cafe. The dexterous decoration has been carefully designed to let the customers feel very comfortable in a relaxed atmosphere.
Customers can clearly see the cafe’s emerging plants from the second floor, making for a great Instagram backdrop.
All the items are listed in the menu. The pan fried salmon with couscous and super food salad is one of the best dishes in this cafe. This dish is covered with delicious salads which consist of cucumber and beetroot. The salmon has a nice crust and it is very tasty.
The Miso beef stew come with two slices of sourdough toast is the another attraction of the cafe. By dipping the toast into the delicious stew, that wonderful taste seems to be unforgettable. The beef contain a good mix of fat and meat.
Besides that, Cajun wedges of the cafe are nicely spiced and with the match of sour cream, it is best appetizer and snacks in meal. Customers are also welcome to buy some cakes as an after meal dessert.

5. Bev Café
Bev C is a Jalan Tan Hiok Nee Cafe, and like most of the cafes, it has a quite inconspicuous outlook. It seems to be just one normal store along the street. However, once the customers step inside the cafe, they will found out that they are a boutique cum cafe.
When you first enter this place, you will be welcomed by clothes rather than food, which would be quite a surprise if unaware.
Bev C is the best for Jalan Tan Hiok Nee breakfast place. They have a wide variety of products, mostly beverages. However, they are also majoring in providing croissants, pies and desserts.
Bev C offers a “Mocha version” of ESPRESSO ICE CUBES which is hard to get in other cafe. It consist of a large portion of milk in it which make it very smooth in mouth.
Charcoal Croissant with Smoked Salmon is the most famous food in the cafe. They put a pretty generous portion of maple syrup and smoked salmon on the croissants.
The croissants are well baked and they are covered by a layer of crispy crust. The most popular pie from Bev C, is the Chocolate Mint Pie, which sharing a same appearance with the counterparts in Windowsill Pies. It is rich in chocolate.

6. Hiap Joo Bakery
If you don’t look for it deliberately, you won’t find this unremarkable Jalan Tan Hiok Nee bakery. When you enter the shop, you will find out that many people are long queue to buy the delicious banana cake. Some people even parked their luxury cars at the roadside in order to pick up the pre-ordered bread.
A lot of wood is placed outside the store. These are the fuel which are used to bake bread. This shop is 75 years old, which is tan hiok nee heritage and the oldest bakery in Johor Bahru.
The boss uses the most traditional bakery way to bake – wood fired oven. You can look at the process of taking the bread or banana cake out of the kiln.
The bread normally available for sale after 1 pm, while the best selling products of this shop are butter cakes, coconut buns and otak bun. After 2:30pm, the limited-edition banana cake will be available once every half an hour.
The outer layer of the banana cake that was freshly baked has a crispy texture. After cooling down, the sweetness of the banana is more prominent and the taste is richer. After eating the Jalan Tan Hiok Nee banana cake here once, you will definitely not go to other bakeries to buy banana cake again.

7. Chaiwalla & Co. Container Café Johor Bahru
Most of the beverage stores we saw are having storefronts, trucks or small stalls. While at Chaiwalla & Co., it would be the first ever for you to see in a container. Chaiwalla broke the tradition and became the first to sell drinks in converted containers.
Since its opening in December 2012, today, it has attracted plenty of visitors. Chaiwalla & Co was founded by Muslim compatriots. Therefore even Muslim also can drink the pearl milk tea.
There are a few tables and chairs placed outside the container box, which is very European-style. It seems to be especially suitable for those who love the sunshine to drink afternoon tea.
Chaiwalla & Co sells a variety of beverages such as authentic Thai milk tea, freshly brewed chrysanthemum tea and Vietnamese coffee. The tea here are brewed by fresh ingredients, including the pearls. In addition, Ceylon tea is also being sold here. The taste is quite diversified, including richness of cinnamon, rose, peach, mango and cardamom.
Customers can choose their preferable size, flavor, ingredients and sweetness of tea or coffee. The ordering instructions are placed in front of the counter, which is convenient for customers to place orders.
There are also limited light meals options to choose from, for example, black pepper beef pie, mushroom chicken pie and tuna fish horn.
The mushroom chicken pie is delicious to eat. Especially its crispy skin, which is layered and fragrant. The fillings are fill with mushrooms, chicken, radish and a little bit of creamy sauce. It’s best to have in afternoon tea, because the serving size will not be very large.

8. Amphawa Boat Noodle
This is a Thai restaurant located in Wufu City, Johor Bahru. The store is actually a bit inconspicuous. Therefore, if you don’t look for it deliberately, you won’t find it easily.
Boat noodle, as the name suggests, is the noodle that is sold at the boat house. They flow through from river to river in Thailand. AMPHAWA BOAT NOODLE providing two types of meat as choices in their noodle, which are chicken and beef.
Compared to other boat noodle stores, AMPHAWA does not provide dry noodles, only soup noodle (hot and sour soup or normal soup). Besides that, AMPHAWA also offers two types of noodle choice for diners – crystal noodle and normal noodle.

9. Shakespeare Milkshakes JB
Shakespeare Milkshakes, which started setting up shop a month ago by the same people behind Faculty of Caffeine and The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen, is already “shaking up” the cafe scenes in town.
Located along Jalan Trus, its white exterior and signage may not be very noticeable, but we are pretty sure you can find it! Because it is located next to Restaurant Kin Wah and diagonally opposite Restaurant Hua Mui (both iconic coffee shop landmarks).
Soft serve ice cream is the latest food fad to sweep across the globe. It is also one of the most popular desserts to have in all year summer countries such as Malaysia and Singapore. It is really exactly the same as your regular ice cream, but slightly softer.
Shakespeare Milkshakes pride themselves on being specialists in handcrafted soft drinks. They strictly use the best and freshest ingredients to create their colorful shakes with explosive and surprising flavors.
The Avocado Power might be your favorite of the two shakes. While avocado is nothing new to the world of smoothies thanks to its rich, creamy texture, combining it with the (optional) espresso was purely genius.
The subtly sweet flavor of avocado blends harmoniously with the rest of the ingredients. But add Gula Melaka and a cute little chunk of avocado flesh, we have a perfect after-dinner drink that is satisfyingly luscious!
This one is for the hazelnut lovers. While Kinder Bueno Shakes did look like it would put us on a sugar high, it surprisingly didn’t taste all that sweet.
This dark chocolate concoction gives a robust flavor. It is crowned with a chocolate cookie and held together with a generous dollop of chocolate fudge, nuts. This is a piece of our childhood favorite snack. Definitely a great option for chocoholics everywhere!
